Middles Science Expo

On Friday, both Middles classes invited their families and the rest of the school to join us in celebrating our learning about Science.

Many of us did experiments outside, whilst others had slide shows or posters to display how much we know about the four branches of science (Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and Earth Science)

We hope everyone enjoyed our Expo and learnt at least one thing from the Middles.

What are some of the things you learnt from us?

Dani the Scientist

Yesterday, Dani came in to share her experiences of working as an ecologist. She explained what an ecologist does (studies the homes of plants, animals and people) and then helped us to find out how healthy the soil at our school is, particulalry the soil in our vegetable garden.
We made a solution from red cabbage that would help us work out the ph of our soil as well as some other substances.
We discovered that washing powder, which is a base, went green and then yellow. Orange juice and lemon juice turned a pinky-red colour because they are quite acidic. But, the soil in our vegie garden went only a little bit blue which means its ph is neutral which means we have healthy soil.

Caritas Jesse Tree

In Advent, the Jesse tree reminds us of Biblical characters and events that prepared God’s people for the birth of Jesus.

There's a great interactive Jesse Tree at this website:
