Your Personal Soundtrack
As part of our introduction to the Inquiry topic of Story and as a way to get to know more about each other, the homework task for the next 2 weeks is to create a "personal soundtrack". 
Here is your assignment: 
Imagine your whole life was being made into a movie. It could be a movie from the time you were a little kid until now, or it can be a movie about where you are currently. Create the soundtrack to that movie. You must come up with at least 5 tracks but no more than 10 that will become your personal soundtrack. This will involve you thinking about the music that has influenced you most in your life so far. The songs or music may come from a multitude of sources and cover any genre. For each song you choose please include the reasons you have chosen the song as well as your age at the time. Put some thought into this. Remember they should be songs that represent a certain time period or event in your life.
When you have chosen your songs, you may wish to design a CD cover for your soundtrack.

The length of biography should be half a page to one page, including a picture (a drawing or an appropriately sourced photo)
- Numeracy – Play the Maths game AND watch the video about expanded notation and write a 5 line review about each:
- Numeracy – Make up a song that will help you to remember your trickiest times table
- RE – Write a prayer of gratitude to express the MANY things that you are grateful for in your life. Decorate the page that you write it on.

Write a blog post about your day in Sovereign Hill. What did you see? What did you do? What did you learn? Include photos and images. Start a conversation on Edmodo about our trip to Sovereign Hill. What things did you learn and HOW did you learn them? Why do you think you remember certain things from our excursion and not others? Religion: Swapping Stories
Students investigate significant and influential stories of people and
events in their own family history to share with the class. It can be
about a special event or memory or a funny family story.

Create a walking tour around Blackburn, including stops at special parks,
playgrounds or places of interest. Include directions and distances. Draw

CREATING A BOARD GAME
Over the next two weeks you will need to use your imagination, inquiry
learning and maths skills to create an educational and fun, board game.
The game needs to include a challenge for the players to test their
fraction, decimal and percentage skills.
It needs to have a focus on JUSTICE. Include information and actions to
promote justice.
Your game should also incorporate strong literacy skills. Be descriptive!

RELIGION: Begin discussing, with your family, the choice of a saint's name for Confirmation. You might think of 2-3 saints that interest you and start to research their significance. One student has chosen Mary MacKilllop in honour of our great Australian saint who taught children in the outback. Jot down your thinking and ideas in your HW book. If you are not being confirmed, start selecting a hero who inspired you for their justice work. eg. Fred Hollows
RELIGION: Read the Old Testament scripture passage: Micah 6:8 Find it online at http://bible.oremus.org/ and select the NRSV version. Write the short passage and explain its message.
INQUIRY: Find a newspaper article that identifies an unjust situation. What injustice is being portrayed? Can you think of a solution to the problem? Answer in your HW book.
INQUIRY: Design a poster about JUSTICE including a variety of images and facts about injustices in our world. You may include examples from the video "If the world were a village of 100 people."
LITERACY: Write down a good definition for an alliteration. Write down a poem or verse that uses alliteration.
LITERACY: Write a definition for a metaphor and a simile. Find an example of each in the book that you are currently reading. Record it in your homework book.
MATHS: Create a cartoon sequence to explain how to add and subtract fractions. Include examples of both processes. Make sure that it is clear and colourful.
MATHS: Write down five examples of how fractions are used in everyday life. Include an equation for each example.
