Our art lesson about colours!

On the 25/7/13 Middle S made pictures with colours that reflected emotions. We were talking about what colours mean, like orange means you might be tired, blue means calm, purple is relaxed and red can be for angry. We brainstormed lots of colours and the emotions that go with them and then we looked at a website about the psychology of colours http://99designs.com/designer-blog/2011/09/08/how-color-impacts-emotions-and-behaviors/. We discovered that we already have a good understanding of the relationship between colour and how we are feeling.
How do you feel when you see certain colours?
Do certain colours make you feel a particular way?

Our excursion to Task Works

Yesterday, the Middles undertook a very enjoyable excursion to the activity centre, Task Works, as part of this term's investigation into Physical and Emotional Health.
The students have reflected on the excursion on their personal blogs. The grade 3 and 4 blogs can be found at:
Grade 3 Blogs
Grade 4 Blogs
As part of their reflection on the day Middle S have focused on:
- how they worked as a group
- the games they played
- uploading a photo/s
- how the day contributed to their physical and emotional health
Please comment on the students blogs. This could take the form of an encouraging statement, an inquirying question or feedback that challenges their understanding of the day at Task Works.

Middle S doing fractions

We did more than play with playdoh today! We also looked at different types of fractions and how we could make fractions. We found different ways to make fractions by creating shapes and partitioning them into equal parts - this was also our Learning Intention for the day :)
What kind of fractions do you think you could make? How?

Thanks to Will for downloading the photos then uploading them to create the slide show and embedding it in the blog.

Singing with Andrew Chinn

On the 16th of July Andrew Chinn came to sang his songs with us. He has a great talent and a great sense of humour. He made us laugh and smile.
