This is our first week back after the school holidays and our PE teacher has introduced us to some new warm up games.
WARM UP GAMES
All students on baseline with one student ‘it’. Students all call “red rover red rover can we come over?” ‘It’ replies “yes but only if…” (chose a variable). Those students try to run to safety of other end without being tagged. Tagged students join ‘it’ person. All other students get a free pass to other end.
To the ship: run to the captain’s right.
To the island: run to the captain’s left.
Hit the deck: lay down on your stomach.
Three men in a boat: the crew must form groups of three and sing “Row, row, row your boat”
Freight train tag
Groups of 4. Three students stand in line with hands on each other’s hips. 4th child is the chaser and tries to join the end of the ‘train’. If successful, the 1st person becomes the chaser.
Three’s a crowd
Students stand in pairs (one in front of other). One spare student is the tagger and another is the runner. If tagged, change roles. When runner is tired, they can join a pair and the person on the other end must run off.
